Have you ever wondered what the genius actresses or female comedians think of in their spare time? One of the best ways to stay connected to your favorite funny ladies and their hysterical thoughts on relationships, being drunk, and friends, is by using Twitter.
Ellen DeGeneres, is well-known for earning major laughs on her talk show, from her books, as her character Dory in the Pixar film, Finding Nemo, and even from her Twitter feed. Ellen once said in an interview, that her goal is to make people laugh without insulting anyone.
Her comedy is lighthearted and audiences of all ages can appreciate her humor. It is rare to find a comedian that creates comedic brilliance without marginalizing any individuals.
If you watch the Ellen DeGeneres show, then you must know that she opens each show with her standup comedy or possibly a skit. DeGeneres is a rare comedian because she can turn nearly any situation into a punchline. Earth Day? Boom, she just made a joke about Earth Day. A joke about her recent sock purchase? Boom, she just made a joke about that as well. Well, you get the picture.
2. Rebel Wilson
Rebel Wilson, best known for her over the top characters the movie Bridesmaids and most recently, Pitch Perfect. Rebel, like most 20 something year olds, speaks her mind on Twitter. But unlike most 20-something celebrities, she doesn’t take herself too seriously.
Wislon recently hosted the MTV Movie Awards in early April and was hired because, well let’s face it, she’s hysterical and can draw audiences in with her quirky, awkward charm. This actress only has one official form of social media, Twitter, which she uses to keep her fans up to date about her current project, appearances, and of course to offer comedic relief.
In the Tweet below, Wilson admittedly reveals that she is a size 16, not the average Hollywood size 2. She lacks a certain “filter” that makes Rebel seem more genuine. In a way, Wilson, comedy stylings remind me of the women of Saturday Night Live. If you ever listen to a Tina Fey, Amy Poehler or Kristen Wiig interview, they are just naturally humor. They open their mouths and suddenly what they said is thrown around the social media world because their comedy is so fresh and honest, like that of Wilson’s.
Living in a sorority house, I’ll often hear girls quoting Rebel Wilson quotes particularly from the comedy, Bridesmaids. If 200 college girls obsession with this comedic actress isn’t proof enough of an indicator that Wilson is becoming a staple on the big screen, I don’t know what is.
3. Mindy Kaling
Most television viewers know her as Kelly from The Office but as of lately Mindy Kaling has been starring in her very own television show, The Mindy Project, on the Fox Network. She has also been featured in comedy flicks such as: The Five-Year Engagement, No Strings Attached, even a family comedy, Wreck It Ralph.
Kaling has proven to be an interesting comedian to follow on Twitter. If you follow Kaling already, you are already aware of the high volume of Tweets she sends out. Her characters and her Tweets portray a type of funny girl-next-door vibe. She’s can be VERY personal and exposes much of her life on Twitter and actually her life seems to be playing out like a comedy.
