Eugene and Springfield are both relatively small communities nestled in the center of the Willamette Valley only an exit away from I-5. But, what most people don’t know is that between the two sits a very small community known as Glenwood.
Glenwood, Ore. – Its mid-afternoon on Monday and not so much is going on in this unincorporated community between Springfield and Eugene. Glenwood, once an agricultural area, has in the last decade or so revived from vegetable fields and orchards to newer developments and offers some fine resources for the community.

Planned Parenthood is the nation’s leading sexual health advocate. Glenwood is the home to this state of the art building. They provide a multitude of free services and those that aren’t free can be billed to most insurance plans. Due to the large volunteer support system, they’re able to provide their services to over 25,000 people annually. This building, located in the Southwest part of Glenwood, is the primary Planned Parenthood for Southwest, Ore., and was constructed last year.
Lane Transit District (LTD) has it’s headquarters located on the Southwest side of Glenwood, right next to the Sanipac headquarters. LTD provides cheap, safe, and convenient public transportation options for members of the Eugene and Springfield community. The EMX provides rapid access to many parts of town, including West 11th and the brand new Sacred Heart Hospital at Riverbend.
Glenwood is a prime area for trading new and used goods and services. Throughout the small suburb of Glenwood, you can find a large variety of trading posts and stores that provide specific services for their customers. Ace Trading Co. is largest, and most frequented, pawn shop in this area. They accept a multitude of trades.
BRING Recycling located on the southeast side of Glenwood is one of the Nation’s largest and oldest non-profit organizations. Best of Eugene 2012-2013 voted BRING best environmental organization. The business takes donations from garden supplies to building materials. Renovators, builders and the public can find items from bathroom sinks, to electrical fixtures, windows and even roofing here.
BRING’s mission is to educate the community about the products they use and use more sustainably and create less waste.
Roaring Rapids Pizza can be found tucked behind Camp Putt, a mini golfing range, right smack in the middle of Glenwood. Pizza here is made from scratch daily and made to order in a brick oven. The restaurant lies on the edge of the Willamette River where warm, summer days, can be enjoyed on the restaurant’s outdoor deck. The pizza parlor also has a large carousel, game room and party room to accommodate youngsters and large parties.
