Located only 10 minutes away from the University, downtown Springfield offers entertainment, shopping and food to the public. While it was not bustling with activity at 3:00 in the evening I Imagine the variety of store fronts bring people from all over Eugene and Springfield during the later part of the day.
The bus station allows easy access to the district. I saw multiple buses bringing passengers into the heart of downtown.
The visitor center is an ideal place to plan your day downtown if you are not used to the area. It also features an old train car in front. Perfect for photo ops.
The Richard E. Wildish Community theater stands out as one of the newest looking building in downtown. Sure to be a stop for those that enjoy live theater and music.
Throughout the area are murals. It begs the question who gets permission to start these massive undertakings. The murals provide much needed color to an otherwise older downtown.
Surprisingly to me at least were all the electric car power up stations. Eugene is a green city but it seems that influence is a part of Springfield as well.
