Located in southwest corner of Eugene, the Churchill neighborhood exudes a quality that is both desolate, yet charming. Our group of four student reporters got to see for ourselves a different part of Eugene that is distinct in both the feel and structure. Once we passed the east most border, City View St., it was apparent that a majority of the neighborhood consisted of suburban homes, many well kept and some not so much. Several churches may be found scattered throughout as well. Next to the fairly large Winston Churchill High School was a park equipped with basketball courts, a playground, large fields, and a skate rink. Even in the cloudy and muggy weather of a Tuesday afternoon, people of all ages were playing in the park and walking about the neighborhood. As we drove towards the edge of the neighborhood, the west side, safeguarded wildlife areas were spotted in very large fields. Although we only observed Churchill for only one day, there is more to explore and discover about one of the larger Eugene neighborhoods.
