Whiteaker Elementary School Vanishes

The neighborhood is pretty large. Having no school could possibly be one of the biggest negatives in the area.

It’s almost heartbreaking, really. When asked to look for and report on schools in the Whiteaker neighborhood, one could only find one: Whiteaker Elementary School. However, now, that one has disappeared. The only educational facility in Whiteaker has now closed, and reopened as something completely different.

Whiteaker Elementary was the only facility in which students were finally able to, potentially, walk to school, as opposed to bus there – or use other types of transportation. Now, Whiteaker doesn’t even offer the walk. This neighborhood has officially lost all connections to a school in the area – though there are Children Care Facilities, such as Whiteaker Head Start Program (for daycare and nursery). One would wonder what to do next. What could a neighborhood with no educational facility do next? Maybe a Montessori…
