Social Network

Social Network is one of those thinking movies that colors the thoughts I have about Facebook. Now whenever I hear anyone mention the site, there’s this nagging feeling that is somewhat upsetting. It’s all the more frustrating knowing that the movie is fictional, and yet not being able to use that and let it all go, not think about it any more. Instead I have too many questions again, about the prevalence of Facebook, about the reasons for its popularity, about the shifting culture and social changes of our time, about the future. New media like the internet, although I’m just at the age where it feels like it’s existed forever, is constantly changing and transforming. This creates a challenging, unstable environment to learn and create, but it’s also an exciting, dramatic time to be involved in journalism.
