Enterprise Update

By: Ayan Jama

Hey guys! So I am feeling SO much better about my enterprise project. I have 3 complete interviews and come drafts done for each of the different pieces I plan on writing. I have my meeting today with Suzi and know that she will most likely rip me apart but it will be the constructive criticsm I need! My interview with Josie McCarthy, the Program Director for the Dining Room, really opened my eyes to the amount of homelessness that occurs just in Lane County. Not only that but the amount of relief volunteers from all over Oregon provide for the people needed these food services.

I decided after talking to Josie that I would volunteer next fall for the Dining Room twice a week. They provide hot, good food for people from all walks of life. There are families with no homes, singles with houses barely making their morgage payments, or abandon youths over 18 who are just trying to find themselves. I also think it’s remarkable that other programs like the Dining Room haven’t been started. Makes me begin to think that I could the person to spread this awesome idea to the other cities in the Oregon area or possibly the nation!

I am excited to hear what Suzi has to say and edit, edit, edit! Hope you guys are all hanging in there!
