Brooke Introduction

Hi everyone,

My name is Brooke Brown, I’m a junior at the University of Oregon. I started pursuing PR in journalism, only to realize that it really wasn’t what I wanted to do. So now my focus is magazine, and I want to be a writer. I’m still working on improving my writing skills and figuring out how to get a foot in the door. I work on Flux magazine as a researcher and I absolutely love it! Journalism to me is about creating wonderful stories and crafting pieces that enrich other people’s lives, while getting some information across at the same time.

I’m an Army brat and I’ve moved nine times, so I’ve had the privilege of living all over the country. Recently, I traveled to Germany and now my main goal is to live there after graduation. I’ll be in Europe all summer, wandering around different countries experiencing how awesome everything is and attempting to learn some German. I love snowboarding, watching football, reading, running, and spending time with my friends and family. I like to tweet so follow me.

I’ve taken 2 years of German and had it for my minor for a while – I plan on living there for a while after graduation too!

    Magazine > PR, for sure

What are you researching for FLUX?

That is awesome that you are planning to travel around Europe. I was just in Spain for 4 months and LOVED IT. If you are planning on heading to that part of the world let me know and I can give you some pointers!

There’s nothing I love more than yelling at my television screen… I can’t wait for football season to start. Do you have a favorite team?

Also, I’m fairly certain you didn’t mean to say you’d like to ‘love’ in Germany… I mean, if you did, that’s cool, too. Ain’t here to judge.

  5. It’s so cool that you get to travel around Europe this summer. I plan on doing that sometime in the near future. I have only been to France and England but would love to go to Germany someday.

What kind of magazine do you want to write for?

Germany is a wonderful country and I am excited for your future travels!

MJ, I couldn’t agree more, magazine is waaay better than PR! It just allows more creativity and doesn’t get so repetitive. I’m researching whatever my writers in my story group need me to; currently “rad rod” hot-rod cars in Oregon, social networks to meet people online, and other stuff. It’s really fun!
