My name is Leah Olson. I am majoring in Magazine journalism and Electronic Media and minoring in Japanese. This is my second year living in Eugene and going to school at the University of Oregon. My path to the U of O has been somewhat long and winding. I began my studies at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver with hopes of being a doctor someday. After two years of school I decided to take a year off to live in Nepal and work at a hospital. Several gangrenous toes, leg amputations, and tuberculosis cases later, I decided that the medical profession was definitely not for me. My year in Asia inspired me to start writing, which led me to the J-School here at U of O. Future aspirations include writing for a travel magazine and/or being a foreign correspondent for a newspaper based in South of Southeast Asia.
