Reporting 1/#J361 is a class at the University of Oregon School of Journalism and Communication. This blog came about because we’re using the multi-voiced and heavily linked world of the Internet, along with traditional reporting techniques, to research and present information.
We run on the quarter system, so the blog hosts at least three news sets of students each academic year. During the 2009-2010 school year, classes are focusing on reporting about the neighborhoods of Eugene. As of summer quarter 2010, student news teams have chosen to focus on the Churchill, Sheldon, Laurel Hill, Trainsong, Whiteaker, Friendly, Southeast, Downtown, Jefferson Westside, Amazon and Cal Young neighborhoods. Here’s a link to the map of the City of Eugene neighborhood associations.
We welcome civil, ethical feedback as part of the link-rich world of the blogosphere. In addition, you can find instructor Suzi Steffen and most of the students on Twitter, Publish2 and LinkedIn. We look forward to meeting you, virtually!
Please contact Suzi Steffen with questions or concerns, or to talk about collaborations among journalism classes across the country or, hey, the world. We’re open to it!
Finally, I have figured out what #J361 means!
Ha, the mystery has un-deepened.
