Located at the Lane County Fairgrounds, the Lane County Historical Museum offers a unique preservation and interactive look on history.
Opened in 1961, the museum expanded its 3000 foot building to include an exhibit hall. The current Lane County Historical Museum is looking for a new home because of the demand for more exhibits.
Major conservation projects in 2007 and 2010 included digitally restore photos and collecting retired audio from the University of Oregon. One special exhibit, “Weird and Wonderful,” focuses on the oddities of the Lane County. Ongoing displays include an Oregon Trail Exhibit, Period Rooms and the Digital Scanning Project living exhibit. A speaker series has been introduced to the museum called Thursday Night at the Museum Speaker Series.
The Lane County Historical Museum operating hours are Tuesday through Saturday 10:00am to 4:00pm with the Thursday Night at the Museum Speaker Series on Thursday evenings from 6:00 to 7:15pm.
School groups wanting to attend the museum can use their website to further gain information.
