NBA Tweets From Around The World

Former Blazer Maurice Lucas passed away today from bladder cancer at the age of 58.  Lucas was a power forward and led the Portland Trial Blazers to their first and only NBA championship defeating the Philadelphia 76ers in 1977.  His #20 jersey is retired at the Rose Garden Arena.  Lucas also served as an assistant coach to the Blazers.

The Miami Heat easily defeated the New Jersey Nets 101-78 today.  LeBron James scored 20 points and grabbed 7 rebounds.  The Nets were among several teams in which James considered signing with this summer.  Miami now has a record of 3-1.

I too wear a yellow and black power balance bracelet.  I am always asked, “what is that you are wearing?” The power balance bracelet is “designed to work with your body’s nature energy field…it is a favorite among elite athletes for whom balance, strength and flexibility are important.” The next question I am always asked, “do you think it actually works?” My answer, “yes.”

Oregon sports columnist John Canzano tweeted this after the Portland Trail Blazers defeated the Los Angeles Clippers 98-88 over the weekend.  It was Blake Griffin’s first regular season NBA game after sitting out the entire season last year.  Griffin was the #1 overall draft pick in 2009 but didn’t play last season after he broke his left knee cap in a preseason game last year.  Griffin scored 20 points and 14 rebounds in the game.
