Writing in their own ways

Are there different ways to tell their stories between a journalist work in a newspapers and magazines? Newspapers and magazines have different purposes and reasons to tell their stories. Also, they have different types of readers. I think these can lead them to create a different writing and voices. As to Newspaper, most people read newspapers want to know about the information from different field. Newspapers have classified their articles into different fields and update different news every day. Therefore, their writing style is focus on how to tell the readers what they want to know in a few sentences. They also need to catch readers’ attention at the first time they saw the headlines. The word they use should be concise and professional without putting too many feeling inside. Newspaper articles are responsible to tell the truths to their readers, that’s all.

As to magazine, most magazines have focus on certain areas such as fashion, science and history. Magazines articles usually show the depth studies of certain field. Readers are only read the magazines they interested. Unlike newspaper, magazines are monthly and yearly. They do not have pressure of publishing the articles daily. Therefore, their articles are more likely showing the depth research to the readers. Their writing may not be so concise but should make the readers feel comfortable to read. Therefore, the magazine will change their voices and writing styles depending on what types of magazines.

However, due to the popularity of the internet, I think both newspapers and magazines writing are shirking. They also have change the way of writing from printed copy to the online copy. Also, the online articles tend to add more information allows readers to gather more information they want. Therefore, newspapers and magazines articles provide pictures, hyper-links and readers’ response. The newspapers and magazines writing become shorten and only show the most important thing to the readers. There are not many extra words and information because hyper-link and pictures instead of them. Even though the writing style has changed because of the way newspapers and magazines them publishing their articles, the articles still focus on be professional and accuracy.

I do not think those changes are bad for the newspapers and magazines those printed media. Because of the internet, newspapers and magazines can have more interaction between readers and journalists. For printed media, one important thing is how their articles can be touching to readers. The internet gives a chance to the readers to talk instead to reading and listening what journalists say. Newspapers and magazines have their own style of writing and attract different readers in different area. To find their way of telling story and share with readers might become a new trend of journalism world.
